About the Tsum Shagya Festival:The festival is 100 years celebration of unique Tsum custom of non-violence. Non-violence is based on one of the Buddha’s five precepts “Ahimnsa Parodharma” meaning non-violence is supreme of Dharma.In Tsum, people have been strictly practicing animal love and compassion by 7 rules
- No slaughtering of any animals
- no hunting
- no honey hunting
- no forest fire
- no entry [sic]
- complete ban on animal slaughtering
- maintain and promote the Shagya
The custom was established by Drukpa Rinpoche Lama Serab Dorje 1920 AD.
