The Manaslu Circuit Trek is the best all round tea-house hike in Nepal on the Great Himalaya Trail; the new Annapurna Circuit. No camping needed.

Fly around Manaslu!

Here you go – a trek around Manaslu in 20 minutes without leaving your chair! Actually it can be -e-trekked fastest but clicking the rabbit button.

Anyway, what is this…? Actually this is the route of the Manaslu Trail Race which flies around Manaslu in seven stages. We quickly need to mention that that does not mean seven days in total. Given the altitudes you meet, that’s pretty much impossible. The race itself spends two nights in Sama, and two nights in Samdo before crossing the pass in a quick up an over. This gives you the proper amount of time to acclimatise – and also it gives you more time in really beautiful places! It’s worth looking at the schedule of the race to see what heights they sleep at and use that to advise your own trek schedule. What is this race? See below!

Back to the fly through – let it run through once while you make yourself a tea, then the imagery can load, then sit back and watch it fly through!

Note the first stage – it goes from Soti Khola and climbs up immediately. Now there is a road being pushed up the valley between Soti and Machha Khola. before Lapu Besi you might find blasting, dust & delays of hours depending on how the work is progressing. After you’ll find a bulldozed trail – faster to walk a long, but bypasses much of the old traditional trail. that’s progress!

So an alternative to this to avoid the works – though it’s a lot more effort – is to climb up to Lapu, then Lapsibot then return down to Machha Khola. That should be achievable for someone of reasonable fitness. Take some water purification tablets with you, though the village tap water should be pretty good quality up there.

Here’s a photo taken by a drone of the trail above Soti Khola – pretty nice view up there!
