Manaslu Mountain Trail Race – 8th – 21st Nov 2014
‘Run for light’
Considered by some as the best trail in the Himalayas, this mountain race takes you from subtropical Hindu villages and paddy fields to Buddhist settlements high in the mountains, passing through some of the rarely visited monasteries, then to the Tibetan border itself and across Larkye La to Manang. With only 3000 tourists a year, Manaslu is a much more authentic and rewarding than its neighbour Annapurna and leaves visitors with memories of a lost Nepal. With the hope of bringing light (and maintaining it) to the people of Samdo, the remotest village in Manaslu, the race donates a part of the proceeds to the Samdo Hydro Project. Additionally, the race works together with LED and brings a number of solar lights to be donated to villagers in other villages who spend nights in darkness.
